Still life is defined as the visual representation of inanimate objects, which are often but not always commonplace. I felt that this still life photo was rather interesting.
It intrigues me because it seems to explore the concept of still life itself. The skull (even though it is plastic) was supposed to have been "alive" at some point, but is now not, and is melded with the living flowers. Yet both objects are inanimate, as neither can think or feel. What statement does this make? Does it make one by this means? Conflicting images of death and life, both ultimately "dead" can be applied to subjects from war to romance.
I have no specific ideas for my still life photos yet, but I intend to blur the line between animate and inanimate much like this picture does in some of them.
