I feel my final project is coming together well. I have not finished edited many photos, however, I have all of my ideas planned out already. I know what I want to shoot, when, and where. I know how I want to edit them and what point I want to get across with each photo. All I have left to do is shoot the rest, but I will be done shooting soon according to when I have scheduled to shoot. The photos I have done so far I think have turned out well. I have done three, one of which is a triptych. I would like to reshoot one of them, my still life, in the studio though. I think the lighting is weird in the photo and I plan to redo it. My triptych, is of someone in the dark alone. She looks upset, sad, and scared; which is all a type of pain. She partly looks like that because taking those photos around 11 at night in a sketchy part of town was very scary. My other photo I have taken was one of my studio portraits, which shows the emotional pain someone can feel. I posed my model in a way to wear the viewer feels like they can understand how the model feels. I hope to succeed in getting my point across, of captured all sorts of pain someone can feel in their life.
I think that my final project is coming along pretty well. I still have a lot of work to do but I feel that I have a good foundation and can make this project into a good one. I want to make sure that I portray all types of camouflage. The hardest ideas to come up with are environmental portraits, but I have a couple ideas. I need to take my studio pictures so that I do not run out of time. This project is unique and different than anything I have done before and I think it will take a lot of experimenting and willingness to try new and different things. I want to make sure that all of my photos are creative. I am excited to finish this project.
My project is coming along very well so far. I am doing imagination vs. reality. But instead of doing the stereotypical view on who has an imagination and who is more in touch with the reality of the world, I am doing different ages and genders. So far I have a few of my pictures finished. This weekend I hope to take a lot of pictures because I have most of my ideas planned out.
My project is on perspective, and how you may notice small details about something if you get a new perspective. My images will be in sets of two. The first one in each set will be a close-up that focuses on the detail of an object. The second one will be from a more distant perspective, revealing the context of the object. So far, I have completed editing of two of my "up to me" photos and I have many more that I can edit. Also, I have taken my still lives. However, my SD card with the still lives on it has been misplaced, so I may have to reshoot those. Overall, I feel happy about my progress and the quality of my project.
For my final project, I will be shooting pictures that portray poverty. As of now, I have only one photo because I am planning to go downtown to shoot in sketchy parts of town. I already have a day and time planned to shoot, but I have to work around the people I am going to shoot with's schedules. I have a really good idea of what I want my pictures to look like, I just need to go out and shoot them. I feel organized going into shooting these images, I might be a little rushed, but I think I can do it. (:
So far I still have a lot of work to do. I have made a lot of progress, and I have thought of many of my ideas. So far many of the pictures I have taken have not turned out exactly as I planed so I'm still working on enhancing those. Otherwise, besides editing my photos, I still have to take some new photos as well as my studio photos. I am very pleased with what I have accomplished so far.
Final Project Update
Project Progress
I have progressed very far in my project. I have taken six finished photographs. All I have left to do is one environmental and my two studio photos. My project is on how artistic expression is used in its many forms. Right now I am just fine tuning my pictures and cleaning them up until I take more. So far I feel I am in a good place in my project and good on time.
My project is going well. I have taken both of my still life photos and a few out of studio portraits. I have taken pictures of spiritual growth, knowledge growth, growth through creativity, relationship growth (love), and physical growth (dog). I plan to take more, but so far I am happy with my progress.
As of now my project theme is how we use our hands/arms to express ourselves. My project is going fairly well so far. My photos are not as cohesive as I wanted. I have two photos of my sisters, but then my still life images are not as relatable to my other photos as I wanted them to be. My sisters environmental portraits relate to each other because they are similar in composition but my still life images do not relate. I have a photo of a barbie, where she is dancing. The barbie relates more to the portraits, but the hand print image does not relate because it is very dark. My other photos are happy. I think I am going to reshoot the handprint image or change my still life to something else.
I recently changed my final project idea to An Artist's Canvas, therefore my progress on my project is not going well. I have planned out almost every composition, but have yet to take one yet considering that I changed my project idea yesterday. I am very excited about all of my ideas especially my in studio portraits. I changed my project idea because I was not happy with the turn out of my serenity ideas and think that my "canvas" ideas would be much more successful.
My final project is coming along. I am photographing a different perspective of children. I want to convey a different side of kids that one would not envision them as. I also want to convey an evil side of children, possibly more mature, of children. I also want to portray the evil side of children's toys to go along with their mature actions. I have taken this picture of a worn out baby doll.
For my final project I am doing stress and what people stress over(bills, jobs, self image etc.). I have shot a couple of pictures so far, but I checked out a camera for this weekend to take some more images. I think this project will turn out well I just need to shoot them. Here is one of my pictures that represents the stress of school and all of the work/homework you have.

Final Project
For my final project I chose to depict different types of jewelry. My progress is slow but I have all of my ideas planned out. Because jewelry is limited, I will try to get jewelry that may not be as popular or out of the norm.

final project
My project is based around the American military. My grandfather was in the navy, so I am doing this project to honor him and all the people who have fought or are fighting for our country. My project is going pretty well. I have some good ideas and a family friend has agreed to let me take pictures of him in his uniform.

For my final project I am photographing PAIN. I am going to capture all kinds of pain people may experience. Pain from love, pain from school stress, pain from friends, and physical pain from bumps and bruises. All kinds of physical and mental pain is what I will capture. This is a still life that represents the amount of pain someone can be in by showing the amount of Advil or "pill popping" someone could do.
Love in different eras
My project is conveying love in different eras. To accomplish this, I will take photos of couples dressed up in their eras clothing and what is happening in this era at this time. In this photo, this couple are in the 50s during the civil rights movement. They are standing together against segregation so they will show the world that you can love anyone no matter their color. I am making progress but it will take lots of time because I have to plan with the schedules of the models.
My idea for the project was to take pictures of what my analysis of "The Road Less Taken" by Robert Frost is. This picture is supposed to be what one of his "roads" a man could take in life- living in the city.
Final Project
For my final project, my theme is faith/worship. It will be images having to do with the way people worship, how they do it, and where. I am a little behind schedule, but i have faith (no pun intended) that I will make it in time.
Final Project
The theme of my final project is deception. Within this theme, I intend to explore the ways in which people deceive and are deceived, and how and why they do and are, represented both overtly and abstractly. I feel as though I have solid ideas as to my photos, but still must actually take them, which I will do post-haste.
For my final project I am doing a series of diptychs showing the difference between imagination and reality. I am going to photograph people of different ages and show their contrasting views on life and how they are affected by their imagination or lack of imagination. Also I will show how dreams play into a person's day and how being in touch with the realistic parts of life affect one's life as well. I am not taking photos that limit only children having an imagination and adults to only having a realistic outlook on life.
For my final project, I am doing poverty. My project is going well so far, and I have an idea of what I want my pictures to look like and I want them all to have similar saturation and the same look. I planned out days where I am going to take my pictures and I know where I will go to take these pictures. I am going to show poverty by not only pictures of poverty and homeless people, but use photoshop and saturation tools to make the images have the same feel as my theme.
My final project is on perspective and how you notice details that you may never notice if you didn't try to get a new perspective. In my project, I will capture a unique perspective of an object, then the next photo will have a common point of view. You will be able to see the details of the object in the first photo, and will see the object in general in the next.
My final project is going to be on Camouflage. I probably won't use this image, but I am going to make others like it. My project will portray many different things blending in, both objects and people. This is just a simple example of "camouflage". I want to make images like these but with more intensity portraying all definitions of camouflage. I am very excited about this project!
I am doing my final project on destruction. I want to show literal destruction with buildings coming to a fall. I also want to show self destruction, and how people can destroy themselves from within. This photo is an example of literal destruction with buildings being destroyed over time, and how a once beautiful building, is now the place of graffiti and vandalism.

My final project is about the construction of one's path. This image represents a once beautiful and successful bank tower in down town Jacksonville. The building has taken the path of being abandoned, and broken although it still continues to be an architectural wonder. My project is going strongly, and I plan to shoot more images as of this weekend.
Final Project Theme
For my final project, I am doing Beauty and the Beast. I want to try and tell the story in a different way while still remaining true to the original story line. So far, I'm making slow but steady process and I'm really happy with how my photos are turning out so far.

Final Project
My final project is going well. My final project is on emotions and how people go through all different emotions either throughout the day or throughout their life's. This is one of my friends that is portraying frustration.
Final Project
I am doing my final project on "pure life." I went on a cruise over spring break, so I was able to take pictures at the beach and of the ocean in pure life. I plan to keep doing calm and serene images that portray pure life! This picture is a buggy in Cozumel, Mexico. It represents pure life riding the streets in Mexico in a convertible on the ocean, enjoying life.
The theme of my project is self expression. This is how people express themselves through things such as art, music, clothes, and lifestyles to express their feelings and state of minds. I like this theme because it captures the emotions and really gets the viewers to look at the photo and express their thoughts and feelings towards the photo.
.
My final project is going to be all about perspective. Each of the two studio pictures will be of the same thing, but they will each have a different point of view. As will my still lives and my environmental photos. This will show that things may not be as they seem, and that perspective can completely change how one sees something.
Final Project
My project uses the theme of nature and all of its offers and varieties. All of my photos will consist of at least one nature idea. So far I have started the final project and I am sticking to my theme.
How is that final project going?
Post an image and tell us how your progress is going.
Write 2-3 sentences explaining the central idea to your project. This will be the start to your final project statement.

My thoughts on this article is that everyone should look at an image and look out of the box and think of all the meanings behind one image. Also, when people criticize other's work without actually thinking and having an open mind. When people that have no knowledge in photography criticize and look down upon a photo, it shows they don't understand the photo. The photographer always has a point to a photo and the criticizer needs to look at the photo with an open mind. This will help me for the future to give good feedback and never look at a photo badly.
I think that people are too quick to critique photos before they even take time to try to understand the perspectives and views. When viewing a photo, it is important to try to understand 1) the photographer and his/her own background and 2)the photo itself and the elements that make it up. If the photographer takes the time to put so much effort into the work, it will most likely be a lot more complex and intricate than one might think at first look. Take time to understand the photo & photographer before you try to get the photographer to understand what you think about his/her work.
Article Response
I think that every photographer sees photographs differently because everyone has something different going on in their lives at that moment that will change their view of the photograph. When taking a photograph, you must realize that everyone will think something differently about it either good or bad. To be the best reader of a photograph, you must put yourself in the photographers shoes and look at it from the point of view of how hard it was to make that photograph and try to consider every point of view. If you like the photograph or not, you should be respectful and instead of just saying it is bad, give them constructive criticism. Also, if you love the photograph tell the photographer because then they will know that they accomplished the hard task of taking everyone's perspective and thriving in making the photograph. This will allow the photographer to know what they need to improve on or it will give them confidence to take more photographs. This article gives me a new perspective about reading a photograph when I will look at other students photographs.

I think that putting yourself in the shoes of the photographer, but also looking at an image long and hard and formulating an idea of what you see that photo to mean makes a good reader of images. Not only are you seeing the image through the eyes of the photographer, but you can also offer to new perspective to the image and allow people to see the image in a new light and with a new meaning.
Article Response
When reading an image I think that you should look at the picture and then try and figure out what it is about if you don't understand what the picture is about. If the person has a theme of there project I take into consideration what the theme is, then I think into deeper thought of how this might fit their theme if I don't truly understand it. If a person doesn't understand what I am trying to portray in my image I would probably like them to tell me what they are thinking and then if they think I can change the image in anyway to tell me how I can change it so it will be easier for everyone else to understand.
Article Thoughts
Some people look at photos differently with different different perspectives. So when critiquing a photo, you should take into consideration what the photographer was thinking and where they were coming from. Also before saying something negative about the photo, you should know what the photographer went through to get the photo. Knowing the photographer and the style will also help you understand the photo better. This helped me understand how to look at different people's photos in different ways.

I think that every photographer needs to understand that not everyone who critiques there photos know what they are talking about. They might not know what exposure even means. I also think that as critics we need to understand the situations in which the photographer is under. And also try to give feedback that would be helpful and show that you are interested in their work. It makes me more thoughtful for the future as to what I will say when giving someone feedback.
In order for someone to better understand a photograph I think they need to first understand how long the photographer has been taking pictures. I also think that someone who does not understand all the key concepts of photography, or at least have minimal knowledge of it wouldn't understand something more complex than a normal photo. I think once that someone has learned more about photography can notice things like parallel lines and complementary colors. In order for someone to understand a photo they have to look at it truly. To better define and discuss an image you have to look at in different ways, like not just what the photo actually is.
now that I've read the post i think i will look at images differently from now on. I also need to take in consideration that the photographer might not have had the best conditions when he was taking the picture. I think people shouldn't criticize a photographers photos because they have no idea what the photographer went through to get the picture.
Article Response
I can look at the images longer to be a better reader of images. By thinking deeply about the images, more ideas will come to my head. I can better define the images because of the many thoughts I would have. Taking my time in thinking about the images will help me better define the image.
I believe that we should take into consideration what circumstances the artist was in. I also believe that although you may not like the work of art that has been created… you should find the positive in the picture first, tell the photographer, and then nicely ask them what they did and maybe suggest doing something slew. Try also to look symbolically at the picture and not just literally. Sometimes you have to look at the photo for a while to find the symbolism. Take the time to respect the photo and the photographer.

A still life is a painting, drawing, or (in our case) a photograph of an arrangement of objects.
I like this photo because it is taken from a different point of view than you would expect a still life to be taken from: underwater. I love the amount of fine detail that was captured with the air bubbles and the shallow depth of field. I am doing art/painting for my final project. My still life will probably involve splattered paint/ paint bottles and brushes. It sounds pretty unexciting but I can arrange the paints and adjust the lighting so it looks good.
The official definition of a still life is: a painting or drawing of an arrangement of objects, typically including fruit and flowers and objects contrasting with these in texture, such as bowls and glassware. I like the colors, texture, and depth of field in this photo a lot. I do not have many ideas for my still life so far but maybe I will do food or paintings or I'm not really sure….
Still Life
Still life photography is the image of an object found in its environment. The subject of the photo is the focal point, usually shown against a non distracting background. The image is well lit and focused clearly on the subject, not human, animal or moving. I chose this photo because it highlights and focuses upon an everyday object and shows it in detail, although it is a typically overlooked household item.
Just ask Caroline- she's living the still life!
Still Life
still life
A still life is a photo of an arrangement of inanimate objects, typically including fruit and flowers and mostly common place objects. This still life photo is intriguing to me because it makes the dice appear to have emerged as a solid from the liquid. it looks like it was once part of the water and it is just a beautiful image.
Still Life
Still life is "a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject" that are arranged in a particular way. I find this still life intriguing because it captures the simplicity of the cups and it is focused only on the cups and not whatever might be around them. I think the shadows add to the drama of the image, and shadows are something that can be used effectively in still life photography because of the focus on a particular object. The way the image is set up also draws the viewers eye in the direction of the tilted cups.
Still Life
Still life photography is a photograph of an inanimate object. The technique of still life photography allows the photographer to compose and set up the object exactly how they want it so it captures the concept behind the average object. It allows the photography to perfect the lighting and position of the object so it does not have any flaws unlike taking a photograph of a model or environment. The yellow and green of the banana really pop out and then your eyes slowly move up to the peel and tip of the banana, catching all the textures. The black background allows your eyes to focus deeply on the textures of the banana and the wooden plate. Normally you do not serve just a banana on a plate, so this photograph is very mysterious as to why there are two bananas on a plate by themselves.
Still Life
Still life is defined as the visual representation of inanimate objects, which are often but not always commonplace. I felt that this still life photo was rather interesting.
It intrigues me because it seems to explore the concept of still life itself. The skull (even though it is plastic) was supposed to have been "alive" at some point, but is now not, and is melded with the living flowers. Yet both objects are inanimate, as neither can think or feel. What statement does this make? Does it make one by this means? Conflicting images of death and life, both ultimately "dead" can be applied to subjects from war to romance.
I have no specific ideas for my still life photos yet, but I intend to blur the line between animate and inanimate much like this picture does in some of them.
