The message of the article was about the struggle to distinguish and classify what a photograph is. I believe a photograph displays a well-lit, well positioned image which leaves the mind pondering its entirety. Also, this article touches on how photography is no longer "lens or film based." iPhones and scanners make photography almost an entirely new medium  and more efficient from the past days of film. The "overflow of images" is making curators decide between the modernistic photo and the autonomous medium. Regardless of type of photograph, in my opinion, a well- composed image, studio manufactured or in the natural environment with a strong message or an obscure meaning which leaves the viewer pondering is the classification of well-executed photo.
