The article explores the changes of photography over the years. It tells how the introduction of the iphone and scanner have revolutionized photography and made some older methods of photo taking obsolete. The article also questions the definition of photography and whether or not an image taken in the street is even comparable to one constructed in the studio. I think that photography is any image raises questions of the viewer and makes him or her have to think in order to understand the beauty of the image. in my opinion, any photo that does this, regardless of where the image was captured, is photography.
Thoughts on the Article
My thoughts on this article is photography expresses what people can't say. They take the picture as they want, the photo can show their feelings or thoughts just not in words. They take the picture and can adjust every part of it to make them get their thoughts or opinion across. The picture can be as simple as the photographer wants or it can be as intense and complex as they want it to be. Sometimes pictures lead to future questions and future takings of the object, landscape or portraits. Pictures that are complex make people think and observe more than if there was a picture of just an apple. But sometimes the picture of a simple apple leads to "why did this photographer take this picture like this?". Pictures lead to questions, thought, and observation. Photography takes us into the mind of the photographer, we see the point of view in which the picture has been taken. We try to develop what the photographer is showing us in our own words to get a better understanding of what the photographer is trying to portray in the picture itself.
I agree with the article that photography is now just more than taking a picture. I think photography is an image that compels the person to feel something. The boundaries of photography are always changing. For it to be in gallery I think all is has to be is still, I don't think it matters if it staged or something happening for real, and it doesn't matter what you use to get it.

Photography Article
I think that photography has developed and changed over the years along with the uprising of new technologies and cameras. With new technologies we are able to get more exciting photographs. I agree with the article in the ways that photos ask the question more than answer them. This makes photography more exciting and intricate because instead of just looking at the photo and knowing what is going on, they require thought and time. Photography is used to capture the moment and we should continue to make it more exciting and interesting.
The message of the article was about the struggle to distinguish and classify what a photograph is. I believe a photograph displays a well-lit, well positioned image which leaves the mind pondering its entirety. Also, this article touches on how photography is no longer "lens or film based." iPhones and scanners make photography almost an entirely new medium and more efficient from the past days of film. The "overflow of images" is making curators decide between the modernistic photo and the autonomous medium. Regardless of type of photograph, in my opinion, a well- composed image, studio manufactured or in the natural environment with a strong message or an obscure meaning which leaves the viewer pondering is the classification of well-executed photo.
Article Thoughts
These photos are interesting because there are so many meanings behind each photo. Any individual could interpret it in their own way. Photography has developed over the years into reality and what people would think nowadays. The pictures attract the eyes in a different way for each person and that makes the images so interesting.

i think that a photograph is a moment that is captured. i think that it shows the photographer's point of view, but is open to the interpretations of the audience. i agree with the article when it said "It poses the question. It is an open question, and that’s why I find this period in photography so exciting." I think that all photography should like this because it opens the picture up to many ways of thinking.
Article Response
I believe that a photograph is a picture that captures one's attention and allows their mind to think beyond that one picture and onto a larger topic. I believe pictures can pose questions and answer others. For an example, one picture could ask the question, "Why is this child hurting?". Through a question, this causes the audience to wonder about the bigger picture and create answers of their own. Another picture could hold the answer "The child is hurting because he is starving." This straight forward statements allows the audience to pay more attention to the reality of the situation and the emotions that can exist with that reality. As for photoshop, I believe that it can make or break a picture depending on your goal. I believe photoshop will be exceptional if you have a science fiction or space related topic. However I believe photoshop should not be used to edit, but not alter, someone's physically body structure. This alone, I believe, creates issues in this world in which people think this type of computer generated image is reality.
I think that the main purpose of the article was to pose the question "what makes an image a photograph?". In response to that question, I think that a photograph is an image that captures a reality, whether it is an earthly reality or a reality of the mind. Something that is real to one photographer may be completely fictional and unrealistic to another. Photography is all about perception, so what some may consider a photograph, others may consider a creation of the imagination. As the article states, photography used to be about giving answers, but it is now about posing questions. Photographers that push the boundaries of reality in their photos are the ones who are "redefining photography", and I think that many of the old-fashioned photographers are having a hard time coming to terms with the new form of photography. It is them who question whether these new images are photographs, and that is why I believe the definition of a photograph is based on style and perception.
Article response
I think that photography is definitely transforming as technology changes. You can now see what a picture looks right immediately after taking it and can preview the changes you might wish to make in photoshop. I like that photography now poses the question rather than answers it. There are many more possibilities in photography than there ever had been. It is up to new photographers to define this new kind of photography.
I think a photograph is a picture that holds meaning that is not able to be described through words. It captures the audience's attention, and causes them to dwell on the mystery of it all. The photograph may be simple or complex, but all hold some kind of deeper meaning, possibly just an experience or an emotion. Photographs don't answer as many questions, but rather they "ask" them.
Eric photo blog article
The technological advances have brought on a new age of photography, where the photo asks the viewer questions and is meant to be observed. It is supposed to make the reader think. The new photos are usually edited on the computer.
Article Thoughts
It's extremely interesting to observe the technological advancements of photography and form thoughts about the future of photos. The question that they were asking was what makes a photograph. I think an image is a photograph if it captures the reality of the world.

Ad Advertisement
In my opinion, good advertisements show the logo clearly, catch your eye, and it should show exactly what the product has to offer. It should make you want to go out and buy the product. It should be straight forward and you should not have a question about what the advertisement is trying to portray. The advertisement should also relate to you so when you see the advertisement, you will think of yourself with it.
The Fedex advertisement in my opinion is a good advertisement because you can clearly read the logo and you can relate to the two pairs of hands reaching for the object. It makes you see yourself sharing one of your possessions with a friend through Fedex.
Pencils because advertising cupcakes called shannycakes was too good for this world.

I think a good advertisement is one that has a hook to catch a person's attention. perhaps a funny statement or a touching photo but something to draw people in. I also think a good advertisement should have enough information to distinguish it from other products so that the reader will think that its is the best product. In my opinion, a bad advertisement is one that has way too much text because I personally would not care to read about it or one that would make the viewer feel bad about his or herself.
to me this is a bad ad because the logo is too small it is hard to understand the photo
this a good advertisement because it provides information to distinguish this company from its competition
In my opinion, a successful advertisement portrays the product it is promoting very clearly. It should make the product seem desirable and should display what the product has to offer. The picture should be intriguing and capture the audiences attention. It should make them wonder but not enough to be confused. The picture should be creatively witty and eye-catching while still remaining simple and clear. I think the photo should be relatable people like when they "get it" personally and can relate to the photo.
Effective advertisement also portrays its product as something that people genuinely desire and make them believe that this product can give it to them. I think this is an example of good advertisement because it is simple and intriguing. The boy is genuinely happy because of the ravioli. This add makes the viewer want life to be simple and to be made so happy from a bowl of ravioli.
I thinks this is an example of a bad ad. It is not interesting and does catch the viewer's eye. Although the focus is clear and concise, it does not make the products desirable.
In my opinion, good advertisement with photos is where you photogrpah something that is what you think would be interesting to the majority of the human population, while it also portrays the product that is being advertised in a intriguing way that gives people the idea that they need to have it. I feel that depending on the topic of the advertisement the advertiser should change their way of approaching the photo. For example, if it is an advertisement about not texting and driving, then I feel you should have a photo that gets through the the viewer. To do that, I think the photo should be more sad, scary, or disturbing rather than a bubbly, happy photo. I also think the photo should have intriguing lighting, because that will cause more people's eye to be drawn to it.
This photo is good advertisement because it is an intriguing photo, and they used a well known movie character to draw the attention of multiple aged viewers. They are comparing the viewer to a super hero who young children and sometimes older people want to be like.
This photo is bad advertisement because even though the image catches the eye, the logo in the top right corner is so small and unnoticeable that when someone looks at this picture they might not understand what it is advertising. Even if the advertiser has a strong photo, they need to make sure they also name what they are advertising clearly so that the point may be sold.

Advertisements
A successful advertisement is one that is intriguing, but not overwhelming with details. It is important to be able to notice right away what is being advertised. In order to be successful, the advertisement needs to make the viewer remember it. Bright colors make an advertisement eye catching and interesting to look at. There can also be beauty in simplicity, meaning an advertisement shouldn't have so many interesting things going on that the purpose of the advertisement is lost in the busyness of the image.
To me, this is an example of a successful advertisement because the simplicity of it is intriguing. The red and blue stand out, but are in a sense connected creatively through the can and the straw, which have both the blue of her top and hat and the red of her lipstick. There is not too much going on in this advertisement, but there is enough to immediately know what is being advertised and at the same time, be visually appealing to the audience. The image is for the most part symmetrical, except for the way the straw is bent and the way the hat is placed on her head. These small things that make the photo not completely symmetrical cause the image to be more eye catching and interesting to look at.
This is an example of an unsuccessful advertisement because although the idea they had in mind was clever and creative, the lack of color and details created an almost boring appearance. At first glance, it was not obvious what product was being sold. I think the creators of this advertisement had good intentions in mind, but I do not think they succeeded in creating an intriguing ad.
In my opinion a successful ad is something that you can relate to. It also needs to be something that you can understand right away without having to think about it for too long. It should have short words that aren't complicated and they should be in a large font. Also the ad should be in bright, eye-catching colors.
Successful:
This ad is successful because it is red, which is a very
eye-catching color. It is easy to see what is being advertised. The words are in a font that is easy to read and they are two, simple words. This ad makes you want to see if the coke is really as good as the ad says it is. We can all relate to happiness, because it is something wet have all felt.

This ad is unsuccessful because it is unsuccessful because it has very small text and it is unclear what is being advertised. When you first look at the ad it is not easy to see right away why there is an eye. The colors do not grab your attention right away.
This is a good advertisement of Dairy Queen Blizzards because it is full of color and the lighting of this image is perfect. The image makes the drinks look healthy and not as unhealthy. Also, it shows that there is a variety of items and the image has the main focus on the blizzards in the middle.
This is a bad advertisement of Captain D's drive through restaurant because it doesn't show what the place offers. The colors are not pleasing and the background is gray, instead of white, so it doesn't make it pop.
Good/Bad Advertisement
This is what I think is an example of pretty good advertisement. It's clever, funny and catches the eye. I'm actually going to probably remember this ad for a while because it takes something I see everyday and promoting it with a hair product.
This is an example of a poor advertisement. It was an attempt to be clever, but that idea did not completely come across so well seeing as the grapefruit does not look like a G at all.

Good/ Bad Advertisement
In my opinion, a successful photography advertisement has to have good color, and has to portray a good use of what the company has to sell. Using the coke product for example, if you had someone drinking the coke it makes you want to have one. I think a good advertisement should want you to make you want the project. I also think the company should make it clear to what they are trying to sell. I don't like when advertisements use ton of words because its on the product not the words. I think good advertisements have clean and simple looks. In my opinion, bad advertisements use tons of words and are messy and hard to understand. The picture is normally dark and doesn't show what they are trying to sell clearly. Bad advertisement tends to loose the attention of the people. To much clutter and mess can distract the people on what you are trying to sell. Also bad advertisement normally leads to bad sales.
This is an example of bad advertisment, because the colors aren't bright and if you were to take away the Gucci name at the bottom you probably woudn't be able to tell if the sunglasses were from Gucci.
This would be an example of good advertisement beacuse the picture is bright and the colors are fun. This image is focused just on the sprite bottle. It brings your attention striaght to the bottle.
In a successful advertisement, one's eye should go directly to whatever is being advertised. The colors of an advertisement should be bright and attract attention, but they shouldn't be overwhelming. The main focus of the advertisement should be on the product being advertised, not on other things like someone holding the product or the landscape/action going on behind the product. An advertisement should make someone agree with the statement the advertisement is making. A good photo evokes feelings/thought, and a good advertisement should do the same. If an ad is selling a product, it should make someone want, even feel like they need, that product. If an ad is trying to prevent or discourage something, it should give examples of what it aims to prevent that make people feel sad or angry.

This is an example of a bad advertisement. The colors are overwhelming and there are so many different brands and labels that you almost can't tell when one box of cereal ends and the other ends. It doesn't make you want to look at it, the focus is all over the place, and it doesn't really make you think about waning to buy the product.

This is an example of a good advertisement because it attracts your attention by being unusual. The ad is somewhat perplexing as the coke bottle appears to be hanging from the ceiling, and as you look at it more, the coke looks like it is floating inside the bottle. The words at the bottom, "real light," advertise that the coke in the picture is light (weight) and suggest that it is light in calories.

I believe that a good advertisment is one that displays the item they are selling well. I think the item they are selling needs to be the focus point of the ad. A good advertisement to me needs to have a lot of color so it grabs my attention.
I think this is a good ad because they are displaying the different doughnuts they sell. There is a lot of contrasting color. The outside of the picture is very simple. Also, the name of the company is very big. Because its in big, colorful words I would remember it better.
I think this is an unsuccessful ad because my attention goes towards the girl instead of the gum. Also, they are only showcasing the box, instead of the gum
Successful

i feel that this is good avertisment becouse of how it pop to the people. by putting the the date it get you pumped about the new product that is coming out. and they put the eye of the snake in the shoes it make you feel that you are a snake.
this is a bad advertisement because it does not have good color. it also has nothing in the photo that catches you eye. this ad has nothing that would draw my eye to it. and that is why i thing this photo is not a good advertisement.
A successful ad uses bright colors to attract the eye of the costumer. The colors should be very clean cut and not too much color to overwhelm the picture. Prominent, large text should be used in a color that contrasts the color of the background.
This is a successful ad because it is a great balance of color and creativity to capture the attention of the person.
This ad doesn't capture one's eye and it contradicts the product because the lady's skin looks dry
This is a successful ad because it is a great balance of color and creativity to capture the attention of the person.
This ad doesn't capture one's eye and it contradicts the product because the lady's skin looks dry
I think that a successful advertisement would be one that captured the attention of the people who would be most interested in the product. This could be done by showing the product in an environment that the product would be used in or found in most often. Also, use colors that make the product stand out in the advertisement. You want the focus to be on the product, not on the background. The consumer should see the product as both useful and interesting.

I think this is a successful advertisement, because it appeals to the consumer and it is creative. It interests children, because of the animals. It also is successful, because it shows the originality of the restaurant, in that it only serves chicken.

This is a bad advertisement, because it scares people away from the makeup. It looks like the skin is coming off of her face, and that is not a good thing. Makeup should make people look pretty, not scary.

A successful advertisement must have colors that draw the human eye. The eye is attracted to yellow, so using yellow would be a smart move when creating an ad. An advertisement also has to be fairly simple. The advertisement must be able to express the point easily. It cannot be crowded and confusing. The text of an advertisement cannot be overbearing as well. The colors of the text must also correspond with the color theme of an ad. The ad also has to be appropriate for the age you are trying to reach. If you are advertising a toy, you shouldn't use big & complicated words or put it in a location that doesn't fit. There shouldn't be an overbearing amount of text or colors that hurt the eye.
I think this is an example of a good advertisement. The reason I think this is a good advertisement because there are bright colors which attracts the eye of the viewer. The also have big letters that are easy to read. It also shows that the jeans have some bend in them due to her being in that position. Overall, I think this advertisement is put together well.
This is a bad advertisement because you couldn't be able to tell what the ad was for it the bottle of perfume wasn't there.
In my opinion, a successful advertisement consist of a simple picture. A advertisement should not be confusing. And depending on what you are advertising, your picture may differ. However, normally, a successful advertisement should have colors that will catch the consumers eye. The colors and text should relate to the product being sold. It should also be simple and get right to the point, it shouldn't be confusing. It should also be placed in the correct area. If your target consumer is a child, you shouldn't post your advertisement in a fancy restaurant. Over all the advertisement should be interesting enough to catch someones eyes, but not to confusing.

I think that a successful advertisement would be one that would be most interesting to people's attention. It should be eye-catching and interesting to look at. By doing this, you could capture bright colors that catch the buyer's attention or something that would appeal to most.
I think this ad is successful and appealing to customers because it is interesting to look at, and it interests people into buying coke. It looks very appealing and causes people to purchase it.
Good and Bad advertising
This photo for me is good advertising. The color makes it feel cold and the people look comfortable in their clothes. It shows a man and woman and a boy and girl to show that the product can be used for all ages. By showing strong people this advertising will make you feel that you can look like that too. The logo warmth without the weight makes you feel as if the clothes are comfortable.
This photo to me is bad advertising. It is in a dull color and does not capture the readers attention. You can not see what they are advertising and it does not make you feel anything
A successful advertisement is one that will capture the viewers eye and makes the viewer feel emotions about the project. It must be creative, simple, and colorful. A lack and white poster wont usually catch a viewers eye and the colors will make you feel bored. If the photo is two colorful than the color will take away from the actual project. A photo advertisement can not be two difficult or it will take the reader to long to figure out the point and see it as just another photo.
Successful Advertisement Photos
This photo is successful advertising because they use someone who is recognizable and well-known so that the consumer is drawn to the product.
This is poor advertising because it doesn't show us what the the person is selling. Also, the logo of the restaurant is considered minor compared to the rest of the photo
A successful advertisement incorporates bright colors that catch the viewers eye and grab their attention. They also don't drag your focus away from the object being advertised. Successful advertisements also have clear and precise contact information so that you know who to contact to purchase the product. Sellers also state the price on the advertisement so that the consumer knows approximately how much the product costs. Lastly, advertisers use original designs that are easily able to be connected to their company.

A Good Advertisement
A good advertisement captures the desired audience's attention and allows the desired product to be remembered by the audience. The photo would consist of an interesting and eye catching composition. For example, most people remember super bowl commercials for their uniqueness and uncommon composition. That should be the same with a good advertisement. Good composition means that everything in the photo is done for a reason, whether the reason means something personal or it is just for the sake of being random. The ad should be able to get to the point quickly. There should not be so many words that a person has to sit down for more than five minutes to understand what the product is. If the ad takes a long time to reveal the product, people will get bored. The words on the advertisement should be clever and witty, but not wordy. It should be a language that a scientist to an uneducated individual should understand. Your logo should be memorable and placed so that a person could find it quickly and easily.
these are good advertisements
these are poor advertisements
and I can't read to Tin so A I don't know what it does and B I don't even know the company
I know it is not a photo but this is an example of one that is too wordy. not many people will take the time to read that and the color is not an eye catcher
cameron
I feel that the bigger the avertisment the more that it like by the intened people. also i feel that if there are bight color like red or pink the will make a better photo. if you also have big popping text it will make the image apaeiling to the people viewing it. i also feel that if you make an ad that has two color that contrast each other it will make it a better ad.

Good/Bad Advertisement Example
In my opinion, this is a successful advertisement. It uses bright, eye catching, colors. And yet, it is simple enough that you know right away what it is advertising. You can clearly see the shoe, and you can tell it is nike because of the sharpened and detail of the image.
In my opinion, this advertisement is unsuccessful. Although it is intriguing, you can't tell right away what it is advertising, which is a problem. I also think it is also too complex and there is too much going on.

I think a good advertisement is portraying the object well and showing what it is used for. I think it should show the object being useful and how it could be successful.
This costa sunglasses ad shows that their product is made for fishing. They portray it well by making the fish out of lenses and frames of their products. It gets that they are made for fishing well by making the fish.
Tiger woods is the best and it shows that since he is the best then everyone should buy his project
