I feel like this is my weakest photo because i feel liked i rushed my project and made this really messy and it could have been better.
I feel like this is my strongest photo because i think it is cool how the school objects are in the Great Oak.  Overall, I think this is a cool campus life photo
This is my strongest photo i believe because it looks like that the baby is meant to be in the flower by the way that the baby is placed in the flower. I Also like this photo because this is the photo where the flower has the most color in. I did that by making the vibrance bright and the saturation low. I used the crop tool on the flower, rocks and the baby. Overall i really like this photo especially because it is my sister the day she was born

I feel like this is my weakest photo in my project because the girl looks very un-natural in the photo. I wish i had a better picture and a different model because this picture was thrown together at the last minute.

I feel that this is my best photo because it has the strongest meaning of all my photos and was executed the best. It shows how the things you read in books can come to life and make you feel the elements in it. The water is coming from the pages and the reader is up in the sky because of where the book is taking her. I feel that by warping the edges of the image inside the pages of the book it made it flow and look better because it looked like the water was actually coming out of the pages.

I feel that this is my worst photo because it doesn't have a very strong meaning and doesn't really go along with my theme as well as my other photos. The meaning is kind of cheesy, it is that flowers and nature can light up the world that is dark. I rotated the picture 180 degrees to show that the world is upside down. I lowered the opacity of the sunflower, but left it in color to show the color that flowers give.
Best Image
This is my best image from the surrealism project because it really portrays my theme of good and evil through the colors and the expressions on the faces. The left shows good by the colors and the smile on the face. The right shows the evil by the look on her face and the black and white. I liked this one because the faces really line up with each other equally. It shows my theme that every person has good and evil within them, and they are intertwined. I thought this one turned out to be one of my best based on the steps I did to create it. The masking, layering, and the way the two halves of the faces layer together really makes this photo.

Worst Image
I thought that this image was my worst because even though it shows my theme and has a meaning to it, I think it could have improved a lot more. I should have cropped the little bit of the hand to the left of this image because it is distracting and it really has nothing to do with what I wanted people to look at. Also, behind the knife you can see part of the stem of the flower which truly takes away from the surrealism aspect of the photo. I could have changed the way I layered the two photos together.

I believe that this photo is my weakest because it was not clean nor artistic, in my opinion. I believe that it would look a lot better if I had done a couple of things different. I do not like the shadow in the back ground for two reasons. there is no symbolic reason for it and it is uneven on both sides.  I should have also been more creative with this picture.

In my opinion this is the 2nd weakest photo. It is 2nd weakest because of the lack of creativity. I also belive that I should have done a better job at making it more believable that I was actually holding the car, by burning and editing the bottom of the car. One this I do like is the symbolism of this picture. "If you put your mind to something, you will be abel to do anything."

This photo is my weakest photo because it was sloppy. I like the reflection off of the ring. I hate how the ring is not centered. I should have feathered it more and maybe increased the opacity.I can tell it was taken over a piece of paper because the paper doesn't cover the whole background. That for me ruins the picture because it looks fake. Hands look like they needed top be edited more. This was my weakest photo.
This is my strongest photo because it is symmetrical. I like how the road leads up to the magnifying glass. The layer mask was well placed and reads surrealism. I like how the hand is slightly blurred so your attention goes to the trees in the glass. This was definitely the strongest photo.
I feel that this is my best image. I really like the reality and the idea that it represents. The picture is clean and very interesting to look at. I like the way that the edit gives the image a dream-like quality. I like that there is no transparency in this photo because it seems like a more concrete perspective of a abstract idea.

I think that this is the weakest picture in my project. I like the symbolism and meaning behind it, but I feel like it would have been more emotional in a different background. The girl is supposed to be trying to escape from her parents protection into the real world. I used this background because there was a lot going on, but I feel like it take away from the focal point of the picture, which is supposed to be the girl.  I like the mysterious quality because you do not know where it is that she wants to escape to, but I also feel that could have been an opportunity to make the image more meaningful. The edit is okay but I wish that I had brightened to girl's head a little to draw attention to her and to create more of a contrast between where she is and where she is trying to be.
This is my strongest image. I took a picture of emily holding a handful of dirt and then took a picture of the sunflower. I made it look as if the flower is growing out of her hands. This shows that you are capable of doing more than you think. I made the sunflower color because it is newly grown and it draws your attention to the image. I like how this image is more dramatic and surreal.

This is my weakest image. I took a picture of Kathryn holding a paintbrush, and then I took a picture of leaves outside. I created this image to make it look as if  she had painted the leaves. This image is not as surreal, and it needs to be stronger.

critic

I think this is my worst image because it the surrealism in it isn't obvious. I edited it, so when she looks in the mirror she cannot see herself she just sees the background. At first glance, it looks like the mirror reflects so it wouldn't show her anyways and not that it is edited that way. I liked the overall idea of the image, but I wish it was more dramatic and surreal.
I think this is my best image because the flow between the faces to show the different sides of him. I do wish that when I shot the photos I made the heads level, so it would flow better. But, I still think it turned out well. I also like the amount of focus one puts on his centered face.

Overall I thought my project turned out well and represented my theme well, but I wish it was more surrealistic and dramatic.

Best Image
I believe this is my best image. I think it displays surrealism well. I liked the way Peytons hands intertwined. I also liked peytons body size in the picture.I like how Peyton is looking at the sun. Also, I like how her body acts as rays.
Worst Image
I think this is my worst image because it doesnt stand out. I could have made it better by placing more people in the picture. The picture seems very plain and boring.

This is definitely my weakest photo because I did a really bad job of cutting out the eyes and feathering the image.  The picture is very sloppy, and the individual eyes do not combine well to make one.  I wish that I had taken the time to cute out the eyes more neatly, and I wish that I had feathered the image more.  I don't like how each eye is sharply cut and looks jagged.  I wish that there was a more smooth transition from eye to eye.

This is my strongest photo by far.  It is my most surreal yet realistic image, and the lines are neat.  The photos combined well together and all of the lighting highlights the parts of the picture that I wanted to stand out.  This photo also captures my theme, escape/freedom, better than any of my other photos.

Best and Worst Photos Surrealism

I feel like this is my worst photo because the clouds don't form around the body in a natural nature.  This idea seems to simple for the project and doesn't portray a clear and precise theme at first glance.

I feel like this is my best photo because the eye blends in really well with the sky and  there isn't to much glare drawing your attention away from the the house and the eye.

I think this is my strongest photo because of the techniques I used. I spent time cropping the parts of the faces, making new layers, and then adjusting the layers so that the all looked even. I could have cropped the hair a bit better. I also like the message behind this, that when we come together as one we can create something new and beautiful in its own way.
I think this is my worst photo for several reasons. One is that it is not very clear. Another is that i didn't do a very good job on cropping the hand, some parts are messy. Parts of the fingertips are missing. It also doesn't have a clear message that goes along with it.
I feel that this is not my strongest image because i feel like this photo does not have a main meaning. it is hard to tell what is the main point i am trying to make in this image.
I feel that this is my strongest image because it is very easy to see that the main point of this photo is how hard people will try to get a good grades.
This is my best image. It shows Peyton flying off the bridge and into the clouds like she is reaching for the sky and her dreams. To create this image I took a picture of Peyton laying down and then a picture of the bridge. I then cut out Peyton using the quick selection tool and then I dragged her onto the background of the bridge and angled her so it looked like she was flying off the bridge and into the clouds.
This is my weakest image. I think it is my weakest image because it is not a very complex image and I should of made it more complex because it is easy to add flowers over her eyes. To create this image I took a picture of Peyton. I then took a picture of a flower and used the quick selection tool and then I duplicated it. I then dragged it on to the image of Peyton and then I positioned the way I wanted the flowers to look over her eyes so it looked like she had flowers instead of eyes.

I think that this is my weakest photo because mainly the background is really blurry, and compared to the faces it does not really go along well all together. I wish I would have been able to think through and have made this picture more artistic because I think when people look at it, it does not really have any relation to each other.

I think that this is my strongest photo because it clearly shows the similarities and the differences. This photo I think also goes along with my theme really well. I love how the hair line and the lips almost match up completely. I also like how the nose and the chin do not match up because it also shows the differences.  I think that the line going down the faces are what makes the picture a lot more appealing because it displays their combination but it also shows how they are different.

I think that this picture is my weakest picture out of my project. I think like I could do a much better job with the girl coming out of the flower. It looks like she is happy and sitting in the flower, when I wanted her to look like she was pushing herself out of the flower to freedom. I think that if I had to redo this photo I would take a new picture of the girl with her looking more frustrated and concentrating so it looks like she was having trouble freeing herself.  I also think that I made her look like part of the flower because I smudged her clothes instead of her looking like she was pushing out. I think that the other aspects of the photo are up to standard with the rest of my photos in my project.

I think that this picture is my strongest picture out of my project. I think that I did a great job of taking the picture of the girl because she had a expression on her face that showed loathing and perspiration. I think that I did a good job editing her hands and face so that it looked like she was peeping out of the flower, looking at the sky.
This is my strongest photo because the image is very clean and the lines add up. The distance between the wrist is exactly wear I wanted it to be. The meaning behind it is very strong. It talks about how certain people hold different beauties, and everybody has their own beauty. The painted nails on the hands also go with the flowers. The flowers are placed in the hands very nicely. I could have had changed the background
This is my weakest photo because the meaning behind it is kind of iffy. But I do like how the flags are placed with each other. I could have extended the surreal in this picture.
 Best Image
I believe this is my best photo because the message of "nature being taken over by industrialism" directly relates and fits the image. The leaves and greenery shown in the foreground and the buildings in the background helps symbolize this message as well. I liked how the burn tool created a realistic shadow, and how closely cropped the model is on the bridge.
Worst Image
I believe this is my worst photo because although the focal point  is highlighted, the shed itself was unbalanced in the hand. I could have feathered the edges of the shed layer to make it look smoother, and adjusted the image so it is aligned with the positioning of the model's hand. Furthermore, using the magnetic lasso tool to crop the bottom of the shed a bit more wouldve made this photo better. Also, the theme of 'always keeping your home close to you' is weakly related because the object is a shed rather than a home.

This is my least favorite photo because it is not as clean as I would like it to be. The edges of the palm tree could be smoothed or feathered more. The girl doesn't really look like she is growing out of the tree and she looks strange without arms. The photo also doesn't have much of a symbolic meaning and only connects to the theme of growth because she is literally growing out of a tree.

I think this is my strongest photo because it conveys a strong message and connects well to the theme. I like the way the opacity of the person becomes more solid as she gets older. It symbolizes that as one ages, her younger self starts to fade away. I also like the water in the background that adds to the theme of growth and shows that time doesn't stop for anything or anyone. If I could redo this photo, though, I would have cleaned up the edges of the oldest girl's shoes.

Photo Critic

I think this picture is the worst one out of my surrealism project. I say this because it is to simple and not really how I wanted it to turn out to be like. To make this picture better I would have taken a picture of a smaller tree and made my brothers body look like it was growing out of it. If I just had to change the way it looks without changing the whole concept I would use the mask and shade away his neck to make it look more like it was just his head. Another idea I would do is mask everything but his eyes or take away his head completely and take a picture of an eye and put it on the tree to symbolize that God and nature is everywhere.

This picture to the right I think is my strongest photo out of all my photos for my surrealism project. I say this because I like how I shaded away the hands to make it look more aged and how it looks like it is coming out of the water. I also like the way I portrayed the flower and how it looks more aged as well. I really love this photo as a whole and I love how it came out better than what I had expected. If we where allowed to I would have kept the color in the flower to make it pop out of the picture.

Surrealism Project Self-Critique

This is what I feel is my best photo.

This is what I feel is my worst.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my surrealism project. While I feel I could have done more sooner, I think it was a success. I think I had some of my best ideas put forward (such as the softball field inside the brick and the hallway in the sky) that made for some interesting, surreal pictures. I am impressed with ambition I showed as well, because several of my exposures required close cropping/use of the eraser tool to really merge the two images. Even though I feel the project was ambitious, it could have been more so. I could have had more than two layers each, done five or six photos, or used more techniques or just better shots. My technique was largely good, but lacking in some areas, such as in the smoothness of lines (I could have feathered them) and the presence of shadows. My best and worst photos exemplify these points; the brick has an ambitious, well-executed idea but the pot is somewhat poorly done and seems almost arbitrary.

In my opinion, I think the picture of the girl with the fire on her hands is my strongest image. I also think that the picture of the girl swinging in the clouds is my weakest picture. I think I should have chosen a better picture of the sky and clouds to use as the background for her on the swing, and I probably could have lowered her opacity to make it blend together nicely. I like the picture of the girl with the fire in her hands because I like how well I shot her expression to match the image's meaning. I think that using the burn tool under the fire and on her hands really enhanced the image, and made it look like it was a part of the picture, and not just stuck on her hands. I liked my overall theme, and how I tried to convey the different emotions but I think I could've done a better job on the image that was supposed to represent happiness and cloud 9. The project as a whole was nice, and I liked my theme and how I could convey it through surrealism images.

surrealism critique

This is my weakest photo. It could be made better by adding more elements to it. The only thing that has been added is a second layer, and the opacity of it has been lowered. sometimes simplicity works, but in this case a little more complexity would have made this photo way better.

This is my strongest photo because it has a smooth transition between the two backgrounds, so that the only noticeable difference is at the bottom of the photo. It also does a good job of conveying the message that wherever you are, christ is with you. this picture was done by using the mask and feathering tool in order to split the two backgrounds in half and bring them into this photo. although this is my strongest photo, I would still make sure the small things are taken care of because the cross seems slightly off center to me.

Surrealism Critique

Due to the fact that my computer is whack, I cannot access my photos. However, that does not change the fact that I think that my photo of the waterfall and mourning person was my strongest photo. I like that the waterfall around the person represents how life never slows down, even when we most need it too. Also, I like how the tones in the headstone closely match the tones in the rocks. It makes it look like the headstone really belongs there.  My weakest photo is probably the one with the cross layered over the tree. I feel like I didn't spend as much time as I probably should have on this image. Also, I feel like I could have made the cross a little more opaque, especially near the top. Furthermore, I think that the overall meaning of the image is too safe and overdone. I could have been more creative with how I expressed faith growing. Like maybe with roots growing out of a church or even a person.

My worst and best

This is my worst photo, because it does not do a good job capturing the idea of surrealism. The photo is surreal with the water where his writing should be, but thats it. The photo is not very interesting or eye appealing. I need to add more elements or effect also to make the photo surreal. The water in the photo also does not look like water, it looks like a gray blob.

This photo is the one I believe to be my best. The two images line up very nice and the book shelves look like they belong there. That is why this is my best, it best shows the idea of surrealism. The book shelves are line nicely in the middle. The darkness added to the wall go well with the brightness effect on the books.
